I realize how long it’s been since I last posted some new Pittsburgh-related images, but I wanted to let it be known that the lack of posts has not been due to lack of work. I have a number of projects I’ve been working on (some FOTP related, some from my “real jobs”..yes, I said jobs).
Nevertheless, here’s a little sample of one of the photographic projects I’ve been working on. Enjoy!

Today’s posted image is one of many examples I have of photographs that “just happened.” There are some images that take much time and planning. Between deciding the creatively correct aperture, shutter speed, sensor speed, etc. and then finding the best composition, some photographs are simply calculated to come out well. However, on occasion, there are those photographs that just happen and remind me that I just need to squeeze that shutter button regardless of my current settings and just “see what happens.”
This particular image occurred while walking across the Roberto Clemente bridge towards the north shore. I spent the majority of the day in town photographing the buildings, when a Gateway Clipper boat crossed underneath me. Not having the tripod set up, I initially hesitated to photograph the boat, however, I’m glad my hesitation didn’t win the battle and I followed my gut instinct instead. If I say so myself, I think the shot turned out fantastic.
What say you?
